This unit mounts on the main air chamber, it opens and closes the air vent. Made of nylon with a steel and brass plunger just like original. This unit is easy to test and can be seen by removing the glove box. Often it is the internal spring that fails on these and if your Cougar or Mustang will not easily change between blowing through the defrost ducts and the floor duct, this unit may be the culprit. These reproduction valances have been modified and fitted with high quality reproduction XR7G fog light buckets. When you compare an original valance to these you will see much more care was given than in the originals when placing the buckets.
