This tiny little spring has a diameter no larger than a pencil. Its function is to attach the deck lock cover to the deck lock housing and to keep the deck lock cover closed. There are several differences between this NOS decal and the good quality reproduction we offer. First off the red "7" is darker, second the "XR" is more brilliant, third is when you run your finger nail over the tiny raised ridges the reproduction makes a audible zip sound and the NOS does not, fourth is there is no adhesive backing on the NOS decal and there is on the reproduction, fifth is the reproduction is made of a much heavier aluminum stock than the NOS and lastly the NOS fits in the...

The later run XR7-G emblems we offer are really quite nice, but they are all just a tad smaller than originals. This is almost impossible to detect unless you have a reference point. The lock cover does in fact provide a reference point in that if you use a new emblem you will have a noticeable gap around the perimeter of the emblem. This little device may not appear to be all that important, but it has a big job to do when your engine gets too hot.
