Description

Reproduction aluminum wheel designed to look like the styled steel wheels that were optional in 1967 - 1970. Mercury was looking to make a wheel similar to the Cragar and Appliance brand after-market wheels available at the time so these will resemble era correct wheels on any Ford or Mopar product utilizing the 5 on 4 1/2 lug pattern.

These wheels come with free chromed plastic center caps. The caps have a red Legendary logo but we can include at no cost, a set of black and chrome walking cat decals (click here). Just add it to your cart if you'd like these decals. If you want to upgrade to a premium quality center cap, all the caps we list with the word "Legendary" in the title will work with these wheels.

Back spacing on all Legendary wheels is 4 1/4".

Bolt pattern: 5 x 4.5

Hello,

I love the wheels but none of them fit on my Cougar!

I was told that if I get power brakes that the front ones might not fit now until I switch over to the power brakes. But the back wheels don't fit either. The studs are too short on all 4 wheels so I need a thinner center section to allow the lug nuts to get more than a 1/2 thread. The lug nuts should have at least 3/4 of thread to hold the wheel on safely.

They have tires on them and this is the first time that I tried to put the on. I just picked up my car Friday afternoon!

Suggestion on wheels replacements

WOW!!! 1967 Cougar XR7

WOW!! These rims where above and beyond my expectations! They fit the car perfectly and then adding 225 60 15's to the mix. Again WOW!! The Tire shop that I deal with had no issues. the rims balanced with very little weight and mounted easily with the lug nuts that fit the rims. The tire tech was very impressed with the quality of these rims and he was impressed of how it made the car look more correct for the year. If I ever get another Cougar, guaranteed these rims will go on it. Thanks WCCC

These fit perfectly, look fantastic and are of high quality in every way. VERY little weight was needed to balance them and the black background Mercury Man caps look as good as NOS but mount so much better than the OEM ones did. Thank you WCCC for bringing these to market!

Great looking wheels!

put these on my 67 cougar- very nice product. the finish and quality were excellent! Fit perfectly. I used the 3/4 inch lugs which seemed to help with the installation- would have been a tight fit otherwise and could have scratched the wheel finish. I used BFG T/A 15 225-60's to complete the look.

I have the original charcoal-painted styled steel wheels on my 1970 XR-7 Cougar. Would I want to use my original accent inserts on the new wheel, or purchase the reproductions? Will I want to also use my blue Walking Cougar center caps? To have it look as original as possible, can I have wheel spokes painted or powder coated in the original charcoal color?

Inserts will only work with original wheels, they won't fit the aluminum wheels, and you can use the same center caps, but you need the adapter plates, item number 30956.

I was going to ask how to powder coat the wheels, to duplicate the 1969-1970 color scheme, e.g. what would be the correct color? However, if there are no accent inserts, it wouldn't do to color the wheels. Just think of the possibilities for WCCC to fabricate an accent insert that would work with the Legendary wheels, then a powdercoated option in the correct color. That'd be the wheelset for every 1969-70 Cougar!

Because of the design of this wheel, original accent inserts will not fit, and unfortunately because of this design and the difference in thickness between the inner and outer section of the wheel opening adding an accent insert would not a feasible from a design and cost standpoint.
