Many of our customers have asked and requested how we clean and detail our parts. We use a combination of items, mostly fine steel wool and elbow grease. Cleans haze, crud, and years of oxidation and water spots from glass, aluminum, chrome, and rubber. 16 individual pads in a package.

This wheel was optional on any 1969-70 Cougar except the 1969 Eliminator which came standard with the 12 hole painted rally wheel. In 1970 the Eliminator used this SS wheel but it was optional, not standard equipment.  These are exact reproductions in every way except they are welded, not riveted to the center section.NOTE! This is a very rare wheel found only on early XR7-G models. Soon after being put into service, the wheels were found to have multiple short-comings including flexing, cracking and lug seating problems. They were officially recalled and replaced with the Kelsey Hayes 5 spoke SS wheel. The original manufacturer of the XR7-G wheels was Trans American Products. The style used on the XR7-G was known as the "Rader". Only a few sets of these are known to be mounted on original xr7G models today....

This set of four wheels is not correct for a xr7G Cougar as they are 15" and the originals were 14". You may find that more tire options are available for a 15" tire. These wheels have been tested and have found to be true. The Rader wheels were recalled by Ford, shortly after the first XR7-G cars were produced. Your Mercury dealer would have installed the common 1968 Cougar style steel wheels as replacements.
