These is the correct driver side backing plate (sometimes called a splash shield) for 1968 - 1973 Cougars and Mustangs. Sold individually by side, each plate comes with the backing plate retainer. No other hardware is included. Although these plates fit the 68, they're cosmetically different in that 68 did not have cooling scoops.

This version of the emblem was actually used on early 70's full-size Mercurys, and is almost identical to the 1969-70 version used on Cougars. In order to use it on a Cougar fuel door, the studs on the back will need to be trimmed down The only visible difference is the thinner / more numerous ridge lines in the red crest area than on the Cougar version. These fuel door Mercury crest emblems are a close to original reproduction. They are an economical alternative to brighten up the looks of the rear of your 1969 - 1970 Cougar. This crest was used on all models except the 1970 Eliminator. To remove your emblem we suggest grinding down the studs on the backside. To install the reproduction emblem you will need the 26120 trim clip.

Very difficult to find, delicate aluminum quarter panel emblem in the original Ford box. Ford part number is C9WB-6525622-A, casting number on back reads C9WB-65291B62-AYou can reference the above pictures for correct dimensions, as taken from one of our cars using an original script emblem. Measurements are from the rear and lower body lines.

Good used center with no crack, missing paint or broken mounting tabs. This was used on all 1969 Cougars with a three spoke wheel except the XR7.

Very rarely do we find one like this example that shows no sign of fading. This is for the person who is trying to achieve a very high level of preservation / restoration.

This little emblem was used only on the two spoke steering wheels from 1969 - 1973. We can pretty much guarantee one if not both of the two mounting studs will be broken but because of the way it fits into the recess of the steering wheel pad, gluing it into place is not a problem. We rarely have an emblem this nice in stock for more than a few weeks of any one year as the tail was prone to breaking off as well as the "cats" other limbs. Used emergency / parking brake assembly for the Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang and is as removed from a West Coast Cougar organ donor. 1969 had a weak design and the release levers were prone to bend and break off. 1969 used a T shaped chrome release handle and 1970 used a black plastic T shaped release knob, which generally aren't interchangeble. Factory cast iron exhaust manifold set, both a correct right C6OE-9428-A and left C7OE-9431-A side matching exhaust manifolds. With 1969 dates. *TRIVIA* 1969 390 S code Cougars were not technically the 390GT variety. An Autolite 4300 carburetor and a non-GT intake manifold changed the designation to 390IP for "Improved Performance."
