    Description

Requires a $50 refundable core charge, send us your dummy plate for a core refund!

No, Mercury never offered an in dash tachometer for your 1969 - 1970 Decor or Standard model Cougar... For years people have been "making" 2 wire tachometers from xr7 and Eliminator Cougars work (kind of). This is a brand new three wire tachometer custom made to look and fit like the original would of had they been available in the day.  If you would like to retain the original standard clock we now have a clock relocation kit that places the clock on the passenger side like the xr7 and Eliminator models.

Keep in mind this would be a good time to change out those foggy lenses that have been bothering you or customize by changing the color of your light diffusers.

*NOTE* If you have a number of dummy gauge plates we would like to hear from you as this product is already in great demand and we want to be able to keep up with orders.

Check out the video on our new gauge tester:

Tachometer looks really nice. Had to call manufacturer with questions on installation because instructions were not clear on attachment. Operation was very sluggish with poor response. Removed it and tried to investigate dragging needle. Reinstalled. No change. Removed it again and sent back to manufacture. Bob replaced movement with another he had in a demo model. Reinstalled (3rd time) and it now works correctly. Bottom line, I like product and mfg support was good but I had to remove dash too many times and then send back (my expense) to mfg.

Very nice tach similar to a factory tach in looks and quality. Small detail is the circle around the needle looks polished instead of matte like my other gauges. I received my $50 core back when I sent in my blank. Overall happy with purchase!

    Pros:
    Cons:
I prefer my classic cars looking stock. One exception I made with my 70 standard was to replace the (non-functioning) factory clock with this tach. When I bought this car, I was really looking for an XR7. Although I "settled" for a standard, I am happy that I could retrofit in this tach. I looks very original and to the untrained eye, as if it has always been there.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
