Fits the 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 Mercury Cougar with the 390, 427, 428CJ or 428SCJ. These have the correct 20 coil spring, but are 1/8" longer than the Ford Master Parts Catalog calls for. Replaces Ford Part #:C7ZZ-7591-AR.

This gives the thumb release button in your T shaped shift handle its tension. If it is rusted then your button will not return back to its outer position easily. Fits 1967-73 Mercury Cougar and 1965-73 Ford Mustang. Technically this spring fits all Ford and Mercury floor shifters 1965-73. Ford part number C5ZZ-7C300-A. This clip is the same as a door panel clip with the exception that it does not have the foam spacer. This clip was used on the 1968 XR7 overhead console, 1967 - 1968 xr7 and standard model upper and lower console pads, seat back access panels and several other applications.
