1970 Mercury Cougar

Used passenger side (right hand) complete door latch assembly for the Mercury Cougar XR7 or Ford Mustang with door ajar option. This unit goes inside your door and catches on the door striker assembly on the door jamb. Tested and inspected, this latch does the have the provision for the door ajar switch as found on all XR7 models. Steel door latch reinforcement repair kit. Countersunk bushings and screws for reinforcing the inside the door mounted latches on 1967-70 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustangs. Kit has 6 machine screws and bushings, enough for both doors. The metal on the doors is very prone to cracking in the screw area for those latches.

Ford calls this Rod - Door Latch Push Button. This is the inside driver side manual door locking rod. Side specific to the driver side on any 1969-70 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang. Your chromed plastic lock knob threads onto the threaded end, the lower end hooks onto the door latch. Ford part number C9ZZ-6521853-A.

Ford calls this Rod - Door Latch Push Button. This is the inside passenger side manual door locking rod. Side specific to the passenger side on any 1969-70 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang. The threaded end is where the chromed plastic manual lock button attaches. The lower end hooks onto the door latch. Ford part number C9ZZ-6521852-A.

Often when your door will not latch this is the culprit.

Pair of reproduction door pull straps for the 1969 - 1970 Mercury Cougar. Keep in mind that between 69 and 70 there were two different versions of each color. For example, 1969 had the dark green and 1970 had a lighter green...so be sure to order the correct year!

You may consider buying our grade "B" door over our grade "A" door if you are doing a high end restoration. Here is the reasoning; due to the design of the 69-70 door, silt is trapped in all of the door corners, these tight recesses always have silt collected in them and when you add moisture you get corrosion. Our grade "A" doors do not have noticeable blisters but since there is no paint or sound deadener in the depths of the corners we know there is some amount of corrosion taking place...

These weigh .50 pounds each, exactly as the originals do. Just like the originals, these are very prone to scratches and dents, even letting your seat belt fall will mark them up. These are the same left to right, convertible or coupe. These appear to be made from the same thickness of aluminum as original and weigh .44 pounds as opposed to .50 for the originals but the aluminum used is not nearly the quality of originals. You can literally mutilate these parts with your fingers as you would an aluminum can. We recommend the premium quality sills. Ford never made these in stainless but what a great upgrade! The advantage we see with these is that they do not dent or scratch as easy when you release your seat belt. Very nice reproduction, silver zinc finish like original. Correct texture and even an original type date stamped on the head. Comes complete with striker plate, shim, and screws. The only difference between the 67 Cougar and the 68 - 70 is that the 67 came with the 8-66 date stamp, the rest came with the 11-67 date stamp.
