This high performance alignment kit replaces the factory eccentric bolt and cam that holds the lower control arm to the frame. The eccentric cam is used for setting wheel camber. When the eccentric is turned, the lower arm moves in or out changing camber. Stock eccentric cams can slip or rotate going over bumps, allowing the alignment to change. This air cleaner assembly never came from the factory on any Cougar, but was an over the counter option available from your Ford dealer. If you have a very nice hood blanket I would think twice before using it in conjunction with this air cleaner assembly as it will leave an imprint. To avoid this problem with small block cars you can use a lower profile carburetor spacer, but on big block cars this is not an option due to the already thin design of the factory carburetor spacer. Used anti rattle pad for the stone guard on the Mercury Cougar. This unit is for the 1970 Mercury Cougar specifically and will not fit any other year. These pads must be used with the 1970 Cougar front bumper mounting brackets and the brackets can identified with the square cut window for mounting this pad.
