Knob for engaging the emergency flasher switch on a fixed (non-tilt) steering column. This original knob is plastic, the reproductions are chrome plated die cast.

Used emergency flasher knob for the Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang equipped with the tilt / tilt away steering column. These knobs are very fragile and the chrome plating will show some minor scratches and pitting. We try and keep these on hand, but the fragility makes them 'subject to availability'. *NOTE* WCCC services all FoMoCo tilt and tilt-tilt away steering columns 1967-1979. Correct for 1967 only but fits perfectly into your tilt column for 1968 - 1969 Cougar / Shelby / Mustang / Thunderbird / etc... This knob is more attractive than the slender black knob used in 68-69, more durable and costs less. More durable than original 1967 plastic units as these are made from die-cast and the originals were plastic. Replaces Ford Part #: C7OZ-17513-B.

Perfect fit, easy to replace and will be a great upgrade over your original scratched and or pitted knob. To remove, reach behind the dash and locate the small, round spring loaded button on the top side of your headlight switch. Depress the button while firmly grasping the knob and move back and forth until it releases. This is one of the easier knobs to find in that it does not break easily and can be found on many 1967 FoMoCo products. Not used on Cougars with a center console and little to no differences can be seen between the different examples. One explanation for having multiple casting numbers for the same part is that Ford would use multiple suppliers for a single part. Rare plastic radio knob used only with the 1967 XR7 and standard Cougar console. This knob differs from the Mustang console and Cougar / Mustang non console knob in that it is deeper to clear the console pad unique to the 1967 Cougar. Rare radio knob used only on the 1967 XR7 and standard Cougar console. This knob differs from the Mustang console and Cougar / Mustang non console knob in that it is deeper to clear the console pad that is unique to the 1967 Mercury Cougar. Early standard model Cougars with the console used a more petite version of this plastic knob. Replaces part # C7WA-18817-B

This knob set differs from the set used later in 1967 only in that the outer knob has a lower profile head. Keep in mind we have reproduction knobs that will work in place of these.

The early Cougars had a lower profile head on the outer knob. It is assumed they beefed up the design in early in the year because the knobs were easily broken. These delicate plastic knobs are very hard to find in this condition. Only the utmost purist would care to obtain a trivial detail part such as these to make their car correct. You will not realize how yellowed your original is until you put it next to this new one. Correct for XR7 or standard 67-68 consoles. Note, these install much easier if you trim a small sliver off each of the four mounting tabs with a utility blade.
