This Grade A quality ashtray lid was located at the rear of the console and was used on all 1967 - 1968 Mercury Cougars except the 1967 standard model and the 1968 XR7G. This ashtray differs from other ashtrays you will see on various Ford products in that it has a brushed finish and a slightly taller lower section. Top bracket that attaches dash pad to driver side instrument cluster for all 1967-68 Mercury Cougars. Standard and XR7 models. Normally bare or zinc coated steel. This is a needed plate, it reinforces the top of the plastic of the instrument cluster and provides some strength when attaching the dash pad. Ford part number C7WY-10C899.
