The 289 used a transverse muffler with hangers on either end and dual exhaust was not an option. The 289 Cougars for 1967 also did not use a tail pipe hanger like their 390 brethren did, the tail pipes were free hanging. We have observed in the many 1967 parts cars in our yard that many Cougars have had an after market tail pipe hanger installed at some point. Many Cougars have a hanger welded or bolted to the passenger side tie down bracket.

Includes the two muffler (aka resonator) hangers and two tail pipe hangers. Only the 390 got tail pipe hangers in 1967, the 1967 289 had muffler hangers only and dual exhaust was not an option on a 1967 289 equipped Cougar, even if it were an "A" code 289 4V. Will not be overly rusty and will have decent rubber still intact. We cannot guarantee that the mounting hardware will be included as shown on the resonator brackets.

Muffler mounting tabs for using factory Ford muffler hangers on aftermarket turbo style exhaust mufflers. These help achieve that concours look using a replacement muffler or mufflers. We recommend using your existing horse shoe shaped muffler hanger as a jig for locating these tabs prior to welding. C6OE-9428-A 390-4V factory original cast iron exhaust manifold for passenger side. Even though the photo shows a chamfer where an exhaust donut would go, the proper 1967 manifold would have been cast flush, and a butterfly spacer would have been used. The spacer had a flapper that partially blocked the pipe and allow heat to be dissipated upwards to the choke. Spacers not included.
