    Description

This oversized 2-1/4 inch dual exhaust system is manufactured right here in the good old USA from original 1968 Cougars equipped with the 289 or 302 engine. This direct replacement system includes: 1 H pipe, 2 intermediate pipes, 2 mufflers, and a right and left tail pipe. The system is constructed from 2-1/4 inch aluminized piping and features blue printed bends with everything being replicated as close as possible to the original. The mufflers in the system have the hanging tabs attached so that they will accept original muffler hangers. H pipes are constructed for use with original stock cast iron exhaust manifolds and H pipes can also be purchased separately. This system will fit 1967 Cougars with 289 engines.

*NOTE* This dual exhaust system has a larger diameter than the original Ford system and will increase performance, but it may also increase the engine sound that you hear inside your car. This item ships in sections and is meant to be welded and or clamped together. The H pipes were clamped on the original systems. Kits do not include pipe clamps, hangers, or exhaust manifold donuts.

    Pros:
    • Fit and finish were as expected
    Cons:
    • A little fitting required
Overall, the exhaust fit well. I did have to open up the ends of the intermediate pipes slightly with a exhaust pipe expander to slide over the h-pipe. The mufflers mounting hole spacing was about 3/8” wider the the muffler mounts. This required elongating holes in the mounts to bolt the muffler to the holder. The flange on the mounting bolts covered the elongated hole so it was not visible. The delivery was a nice surprise. With all of the industry backlogs I was expecting 6-8 week delivery, but received it in 10 days. As noted earlier, the exhaust fit overall and I am very happy with the product and the results.

Got a call from WCCC *after* the order was placed to say the shipping costs in the order was too low. Since I ordered on-line without assistance, with the discount, that comes to 27% of the price of the system. $550 became $700. Not this Billy Clyde Pucket.

    WCCC Response:
We try to make the shipping on our site accurate, but with some odd shaped and oversized items the automated shipping calculations are just not accurate.  We only quoted what we would get charged to ship the item.

Looks great. Tail pipe ends are exactly even with one another. I especially liked the sound-it is mellow and not loud(the car is a base model with a 289 4V). Highly recommended product. I had it professionally installed-tech set it fit ok.

    Question
    Asked:
Im having trouble. Do the mufflers need to be cut from the tail pipe to install over rearend. It is one piece welded and wanted to make sure. Thanks

    Answer
    WCCC Admin Answered:

As delivered, the tail pipe should seperate just after the H-Pipe, you can see the junction in this photo: https://storeimages-westcoastclassic.netdna-ssl.com/dc/8205/1354040793_a.jpg. That junction should only be welded or clamped after the exhaust is installed in the car. With the portion with the mufflers disconected from the h-pipe you should be able to fish the exhaust line over the rear end, then slide the rear section back into the h-pipe once in place.

Why am I being warned about potential exposure to chemicals in motor vehicle parts?

    • Some chemicals in motor vehicle parts are on the Proposition 65 list because they can cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
    • When purchasing USED or NOS items, we do not know if listed chemicals are present in these products.
    • This product is known to contain the following listed chemicals:
