This is actually not correct for a 1968 but it is all that is available in reproduction. The 1968 front is actually the same 4 1/4" length as the rear. For 1968 Ford standardized or changed all of the J-bolt threads to the beefier 1/2"-13. We have noted two variations of this wing nut. The most obvious identifier between the two is the tabs in the center. The majority have these tabs present, the minority do not. We also stock and carry the correct disc or hold down plate, and the J bolt. Lots of sizes and lengths for those. Do you have the correct one?

This armrest is correct for the 1968 Shelby / Ford Mustang, but works well as a reasonably close substitute for the 1967 - 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7. The contour is the same as found on the 1968 XR7, the 1967 XR7 had more squared off edges. The texture is not course like the XR7, but rather smooth to match the grain of vinyl on the perimeter of the XR7 door panels, sides of seats and Cougar dash pad. This clip looks just like the larger quarter extension moulding / trim moulding clip, but is smaller (as our comparison picture shows). One clip per side is used to attach the tail end (smaller end) of the moulding / trim to the extension.
