This pigtail is not going to be a good fit, but if you choose this as your replacement, keep in mind that although this pigtail has an extra long resistor wire, do not splice into it or cut it down. Used wiring pigtails for the ignition switch and ignition system of the standard Mercury Cougar. One pigtail plugs into the back of the ignition switch and the other goes through the firewall and connects to the main under hood wiring harness. These pigtails also have the pink resistance wire intact which runs between the two pigtails.  DO NOT cut or splice into this wire, it's resistance is dependent upon it's UNCUT length.

The automatic seat back release option was added in early 1970 for Cougar and Mustang. The automatic seat back release would pull the release lever on both of the bucket seats. This only happens when the either the driver or passenger side door is opened. Kit comes with the 1970 specific wiring harnesses from the solenoid, includes 3 pin switch for the passenger pillar post, relay, solenoids, and cross over wiring. Each of these great kits include all three required cables, including part numbers, proper terminal and post clamp ends. Starter cables are properly shielded from heat. 1970-71 Mercury Cougar with 65-75 AMP alternators and V-8 engines. The originals were either 43-55 Amp (Standard) Draw or 65-75 Amp (High) Draw. Good used tray that is not currently reproduced. Most people prefer the group 24 battery but for those that want to keep it very original, this is getting to be a hard to find part with no rot (will show pitting). Many that are not rotted have been cut to accept a group 24.

This used grade "A" bezel for the driver side master switch was used in the latter part of 1970 through the 1972 model year. These do not "pry" off rather they are removed by slipping a small screw driver between the bezel and door panel and depressing the clip tab so as to release it from the master switch housing.
