This product is an NOS Part. NOS items are OEM parts from Ford that have been sitting on shelves or in warehouses for years. These are often great examples of the orignal parts, but they may have scratches or other shelf wear.

"Service replacement" parts are not exact replacements of the parts that were installed at the factory, but are what Ford considered as "good enough" and were used at Ford dealerships after the original supply of parts was exhausted.

NOS (New Old Stock) rear pancake motor for the rear quarter windows of the Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang. These motors are often ruined because water has leaked down into the quarter panel where it has then seeped into the motor. Once water gets inside the case, the motor's days are numbered. This is because the interior of the case will eventually start to rust and it will seize the motor. This motor is a service replacement part and it would have been the motor your local dealership would have used to replace an old corroded faulty unit.
