Attractive reproduction of a very popular, over the counter Mercury dress-up accessory. The only Cougars that came from the factory with this real wood shifter were the 1970 Eliminator and 1968 XR7G. Mercury Cougar shift handles never came covered in real leather from the factory but what a cool upgrade! We sell a lot of these and the feedback has been great. We also carry the original plastic covered (simulated leather) reproduction XR7 shift handles in several colors but this real leather handle comes in black only.

C5ZZ-7210-D "U" shaped bracket that attaches the 3 speed shift lever to the shifter control assembly. For use on all 1967 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustangs with the 3 or 4 speed shift lever, and 1968 shift levers through 1-2-1968. Bottom bracket only, called a Trunion (see illustration). Attaches to the console shifter bezel on any 1967-68 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang. We occasionally have these available when we get broken console bezels. This surround or "U" plate was originally attached with heat to pin connectors. To reattach we suggest using glue. New internal speedometer gear fits 4 speed toploader transmissions. The largest number of 4 speed toploaders came stock with this gear. Replaces Ford Part #: C4DZ-17285-A.

This clips affixes the plastic speedometer gear to the cable. Some have found that this OEM original clip fits a little better than the reproduction we offer. *Trivia* Did you know the first Cougar cast for production in 1968 was this "Custom Cougar"? This fine example was offered up on ebay summer 2008 for a mere $6500.

Used speedometer cable from a 1967-68 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang with 4 speed transmission. These are assembly line used and would have had a Ford number of C7ZF-17260-A or C7ZZ-17260-J. Has captured hold down bracket at transmission. Cable has a rubber hose at the transmission end. These measure out about 76 inches long. High quality alternative to the expensive OEM switch. If you have an early 67 the plug may be the dual type which is also listed on this site. This will work with your C-4 or C-6 automatic transmission. The only real difference is that this switch does not come with the FoMoCo logo or part number on it.
