Permatex Ultra Copper Sensor Safe High temperature silicone, good for any makes and years. This stuff won't harm your Oxygen Sensors, and is good for up to 700 degrees intermittent. 

Just about the only possible reason to put this poor quality reproduction on your Cougar is that it is a good tool to put out engine fires. No Joke! If you happen to have an engine fire you can carefully open your hood, yank the blanket downward and smother the fire by pushing the blanket tight around the area that is burning. Same as our crinkle finished Mercury Cougar valve covers but with a polished finish. These are rarely in stock so do not be surprised if our system will not let you order. We get these from Scott Drake and the only reason they polish a few sets a year is when they find a set of black covers that have a defect, they send them in to be polished. So... This is the correct base for a 1972 Mercury Cougar with a Q code 351-4V Cleveland engine. It came with a painted lid unless your car happened to have been ordered with the "Sporty Exhaust" package and then a chrome lid was included. One year only air cleaner for the Cougar. D1AZ-6788-A Metal tab that bolts to the intake manifold and has a hole for the round hose retaining ring (part number D2AZ-14A163-K). 1972-1973 all 351 engines, *Restoration Tip - These were painted Ford engine blue when the engines were painted, so paint it Dark Ford engine blue.
