This two piece heat shield has a very narrow application in that it is a one year only item and only for the 390 IP (Improved Performance). It does not mate to metal a "S" shaped heat riser tube but rather a flexible paper-foil tube that attaches to a reducer on the bottom side of the snorkel. This original Ford service replacement hood scoop is the same as a factory installed scoop except that it does not have the embossements for the hood grille used on the very first Ram Air Cougars (prior to September 1968) and it has extra mounting stud receptacles for use on multiple applications such as the Comet GT and the Mercury Cyclone.
