    Description

This scoop has been discontinued. The closest available scoop is the 71-73 GT Scoop (Item # 26020).

Reproduction Eliminator hood scoop for the Mercury or Ford. Correct stud configuration, size and weight and far superior to our old scoop we offered. This scoop was made by using an original Eliminator scoop to make the mold. BOSS 302, 351w, 351c, 390 and 428 Eliminator Cougars all used the same scoop whether they were equipped with Ram Air or not. This unit will sometimes crack at the opening. The dimensions are just like the original and measure 21 5/8" at the widest point on the front, 25" at the widest point at the rear and 26 1/8" tall when stood on end and measured at its longest point. The scoop is 2 7/8" tall at the front middle when mounted on the hood. Comes as shown with studs.

Correct mounting nuts, 10 total needed, can be found here.

    Replaces Ford part # C9WY-16C630-B.

    Pros:
    • Looks Good
    Cons:
Good Item overall. Be careful in drilling holes. I drilled the 4 that were punched into the lower hood skin and then aligned up the scoop to mark the others. The hardest part was cutting that hole in a near perfect hood! New intake manifold and 4V carb/air cleaner would not fit under hood. Oops! Remember to not tighten nuts too tight. Just enough to close gap between scoop and hood. They will feel like they could tighten forever. Use some blue loctite if paranoid.

Careful not to overtighten like I did. Pulled thread from fiberglass scoop. Slight wave on one side of the hood scoop, but overall worth the cost and looks really nice.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
