    Description

Attractive reproduction of a very popular, over the counter Mercury dress-up accessory. The only Cougars that came from the factory with this real wood shifter were the 1970 Eliminator and 1968 XR7-G. The XR7-G used a gold Cougar "Walking Cat" emblem and the 1970 Eliminator used the silver emblem. Of course this will look great on any 1967 - 1973 Cougar.  If you look close and compare to the pictures of our NOS handle you will notice differences, most notable is that the chrome divider in the center is raised and the original looks flat.

Check out our video on rebuilding your shifter below:

Try finding an OEM good luck !!. Who wants to pay for a used one on Ebay you will pay through the nose for used worn one that looks USED .This repo is correct and looks great.

Shifter handle is nice but the quality was a little poor. You can still see where the cougar logo had been glued on (residue of glue very obvious) but barring that with a little polish and a good clean looks very good on the t-bar itself. Nice for a change.

    Cons:
I recently purchased and installed this shifter handle in my 68 Cougar XR-.7 Very pleased with the look, feel and quality of the handle. Obviously, it is very easy to install....it only takes about 2 minutes total to remove the original handle and install this new one. Therefore, it would be easy enough to swap back in the original handle at any time in the future. I already have a wood (aftermarket) steering wheel installed, so I just like the combination look or effect of the wood shifter handle, wood steering wheel and the XR-7 wood instrument panel. Nice product!!
