New reproduction insert for the Hurst shifter boots. This is designed to protect the integrity and lengthen the life of the rubber boot used to protect Hurst shifters with rectangular arms. After a while, your boot can become stressed and even begin to tear apart when the arm is shifted contantly. You must remove the shifter handle to install the support. Cougar actually used a larger ribbed plate on manual transmission cars without a console but this Mustang part is an inexpensive alternative. The rubber shift boot screws to the transmission tunnel, carpet then goes over it and lastly this retainer slips over the boot and hides the cut edges of your carpet. This bezel was never offered from the factory on a Cougar, but is a very attractive part for those with a manual transmission and no console. This unit works with three or four speed manual transmission and with a rubber or leather shift boot.
