Ford offered the 1973 Mercury Cougar hood emblem in two versions as a service replacement part. It is very rare to find them new in the box with the chrome center hood moulding, usually they are found without the chrome. This was found at the Spring 2007 Ford Carlisle show. D3AZ-17A812-A Front bumper guard rubber pad used prior to September 5, 1972, on a 1973 Mercury Cougar. The early front bumper guards had a narrow rubber pad early on. The rear flat surface measures 3/4 inches wide. Same rubber strip either right or left side. Hard to find without some scaring on the rubber. This 1/2" tall unique little screw was used on several different trim parts on the early Mercury Cougars. In 1967 - 1968 there were eight per wheel lip moulding, two per fender extension moulding, two per center grille moulding and five per hood lip moulding for a total of 50 screws. In 1969-1973 they were used on the wheel lips mouldings. The 1971 - 1973 hood lip mouldings used the same screw but it was 5/8" tall.
