1972 Mercury Cougar

One of the major differences between the reproduction and the original sight glass hoses, is that the texture of the originals was much more defined.  You can see and feel the ridges in the hose on the originals.  Below is a close up picture of repro and used side by side, and it is obvious that the repro is not nearly as textured as the originals...

For 1972-73 Mercury Cougars and Ford Mustangs with the 351W engine. This is a Pitts manufactured pulley and clutch assembly with a pulley diameter of 6-5/16", a clutch diameter of 5-1/8", and an overall thickness of 1-11/16 inches. Reproduction diaphragm pump that mounts on the front all 67 - 73 Cougar or Mustang Autolite 2V carbs as well as 1967 Autolite 4V Carbs. With today's gas, these commonly fail, especially when sitting for extended periods of time. Complete failure will cause fuel leaks, but many times these will affect performance well before a leak actually starts. Good idea to replace every few years or if sitting for 6 months or more. This is the part of the tilt switch that the turn signal wand screws into. This air cleaner assembly never came from the factory on any Cougar, but was an over the counter option available from your Ford dealer. If you have a very nice hood blanket I would think twice before using it in conjunction with this air cleaner assembly as it will leave an imprint.
