Product Condition Grades
Below is a general description of what the criteria is for our product condition grades. These are generalizations that are intended to give you an idea of the condition of the product at a quick glance. Because different parts degrade at different rates, there are variances in what the letters represent, please see the products description for details about the condition of any particular product.
A = Excellent / Above Average
B = Average / Some flaws / Good to Excellent Driver Quality
C = Obvious flaws / Poor to Average Driver Quality
D, E, F = Worse, Worser, Worsest
This kit is for the 1967 Cougar, we also list the Early 1968 and Late 1968 versions. There are minor differences in each one.
This basic kit will save you many hours on your grille restoration especially if you do not own a bead blasting cabinet or the specialty power tools needed to separate the chrome grille bars from the grille assembly. To come up with this "near perfect" group of parts we have to disassemble several West Coast, corrosion free grilles and inspect them very closely. Next we glass bead blast every square inch and inspect them once again, as many hairline cracks and defects do not reveal themselves until all paint is removed. Once they pass the second inspection they receive 3 coats of SEM brand Trim Black paint. Lastly we hand select a set of premium, show quality chrome bars that have been restored to above and beyond the luster found on our cars from the factory (restored grille bars will not have the inner vanes painted as the originals are). We HIGHLY encourage you to send your grille trade to us in advance if it is in decent condition as this could cut your cost by as much as half or more. If you need help shipping, we can offer you a prepaid UPS call tag at a discounted rate. Proper packaging is imperative! For this reason you may wish to purchase the grille first and reuse our packaging to return your old grille. Keep in mind the value we give on your "core" grille is at our sole discretion. This is an expensive package but as we all know the early Cougar grille is an intricate complicated assembly that when done right is the crown jewel and focal point of a high end restoration. The quantity we have on hand is very limited and yes we will take multiple grilles in trade if you have them.
