    Description

New premium reproduction tear drop power disc brake master cylinder for the Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang equipped with factory power disc brakes in front and drums in back. Has proper threaded line size for OEM or replacement brake lines, 3/8-24 and 1/2-20.

The main difference between this unit and our economy version is cosmetics, as this premium unit comes with the correct "tear drop" casting; other difference to consider are this unit has a 1" bore, instead of 1 1/8" bore, and this premium unit has a better cap and diaphragm.

Includes a new cap and diaphragm as shown.

Unlike many others you will find, this unit does not need brass line adapters to fit your factory lines, they are correctly sized, will not interfere with your shock tower and ready to bolt on.

Note that the 1967 - 1969 Midland booster (banded body) requires a spacer between booster and master and the 1969-1973 cars equipped with Bendix booster (crimped together body) does not require a spacer between master and booster.

    Replaces Ford part # C8ZZ-2140-A.

*NOTE* This is the service replacement for the 1967 Power Disc Brake (Ford part # C7ZZ-2140-F) and the 1972 Power Disc Brake before 2/28/72 (Ford part # D2ZZ-2140-A).

    WARNINGS:

Do not attempt to use a 1970 booster on a 1967-69 Cougar as failure will occur within minutes!

Never bleed your brakes on a power brake car with the car running. The pedal will over extend the rod into the booster and break internal parts. This is not covered under warranty.

    Pros:
    • Best repro available
    Cons:
    • Wrong cap for early years
    • Wrong stop bolt for later years
This is probably the most accurate reproduction available of the Bendix Master Cylinder used by Ford and Mercury from 67 - 73. It is not perfect though. The cap with the embossed writing was only used from 69 on. Correct earlier caps are available though. On Fords the master and cap are painted black and a sticker is placed over the writing on the earlier caps. The sticker references the Ford part number for Brake fluid vs, the industry standard number stamped in the cover. Also the stop blot on the bottom of the Master Cylinder is only correct from 67 until mid 68. It was them replaced with an Allen bolt.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
