Late 1971 (4-1-1971) through mid late 1972 Mercury Cougar, approximate cutoff is 3-1-1972. Look for two different things to differentiate the trunk lids. First is the spacing on the bolts to the hinges. This style has a 4-1/4 inch spacing, early 1971 deck or trunk lids have a 3 inch spacing on those hinge bolts.
