We often list items like this more for documentation purposes than as an actual sale item. We have no XR7-G pull straps for sale at present, but this photo may be of help to those of you that are looking to restore or recreate a pair.

Used end cap with the burl woodgrain for the deluxe door pull straps found in the Mercury Cougar XR7 or Ford Mustang. These units will show a degree of pitting, fine scratches and fading. Also, these door pull strap caps are unique to 1968 and they are not currently being reproduced. 1967 has no border and the woodgrain has a different color and look to it. Driver quality used left side or driver side folding door handle. This type of handle was used on the 1967 XR7 models and 1968 Cougars. Original used hard plastic mounting gasket. We use to highly recommend the used mirror pad over the reproductions, but the 'premium' reproduction we now offer is identical to this part, apart from the fact that the reproduction pads are missing the Ford engineering number molded into them; other than that it is hard to tell the reproductions from the originals. Since the wand is recessed into the door panel on the 1969 Cougar, the wand is not prone to breaking off like the 1970 version which protrudes straight out. Notice the 1970 mirrors differ from 1969 in that the wand exits the door panel at a 90 degree angle. Fine scratches but great for the guy who wants original. The Reproduction does not have the II-DMI-6 lettering at the bottom like this original. You will have to carefully peel (roll back) the aluminum backing that is glued in place before gluing it in your mirror. If you use needle nose pliers and take your time it usually works fine.
