Ford Casting number as seen on the bottom side is D1OB-17713-AWA. Many people misinterpret it as D10B-17713-AWA, DI0B-17713-AW or Dl0B-17713-AWA. Perfect base with no cracks or bends. Visually it is impossible to tell this part from 1970 with a D0OB-17713-AW casting number on the bottom. The Pastel Blue base is from a 1970 and the Red base from a 1971. This threaded replacement wand will require you to cut 8/32" fine threads in your original controller. Your OEM mirror controller is made of a very soft metal so one can often install these as "self tapping".1967 and 1968 are different, see comparison picture. The 1968 version was rounded off due to new safety standards. The mirror nut tool will fit over the 1967 wand, but not the 1968.
