    Description

    Requires a $50 core charge.

Many of these units would have come from the factory without a ground wire. Please note, the only reason to NOT get the ground wire is to maintain authenticity.  Those without a ground wire are far more prone to short and fail. Units without ground wires will not be warrantied.  Never connect this unit to 12 volts direct, use the power source from your harness only.  Hooking this unit directly to a non-fused 12v power source will fry the magneto and the warranty will be void. If you still would like to order a unit without a ground wire, please give us a call at 503-463-1130 and order part # 1001582-CoreCharge.

These have been remanufactured to as new condition and come complete with a one year warranty on parts and workmanship. They come with a new inner diaphragm, gaskets and other parts are replaced as needed. Please read through the descriptions below to see just how thorough our re-manufacturing process is. If you have extra cores to exchange on this item please let us know! Original Cougar part number C7SZ-13A161-A.

Every part is cleaned examined and made to look as new.  The metal parts are restored with the correct clear zinc finish, plastic parts are cleaned and polished, rubber parts are replaced with better than new high quality pieces and new gaskets are installed.  We often have to glean damaged parts from other units but even if your core has multiple parts that need replacement we do not charge you extra.

The earlier Cougars used Delrin for this over-ride switch.  Later in the year plastic was substituted which was more expensive and less flexible.  The Delrin part is borderline translucent.  We have reproduced this very vulnerable part so even if you send us a core with an unbroken plastic part your remanufactured part will come with a Delrin part as pictured.

The diaphragm often has leaks in it after decades of use.  It is unlikely our new replacement diaphragm will ever go bad, we chose to go with the best possible materials, Trico did not for cost reasons.

These little magnetos are actually pretty durable units, we thoroughly test and clean each one.

Springs are inspected for rust, no rusty parts are reused in our rebuilds...

If the plastic housing as even one hairline crack we discard it.

    Clear Zinc plated as new.

Try as you might, these new rubber diaphragms will not fail.

To ensure proper operation of this assembly, please install the unit back into it's original position (driver's side inner fender wall **below the windshield washer fluid reservoir** ), making sure the mounting area is clean of all dirt, rust and other debris. Tighten bolts to ensure a proper ground is achieved. *NOTE* The only other car to receive this part in 1967 was the Ford Thunderbird

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...

My 1971 Cougar XR7 was retrofitted with a Ford “400”, Edelbrock intake and 4 barrel carb, TCI Street Fighter trans, B & M Hammer shifter, and dual turbo exhaust. While this sounds interesting, the Cougar itself was seriously neglected and...

WCCC hooked me up with an original glove box cable and the correct screws WITH shoulders for my glove box. Their listing for these screws explains that the original screws have a shoulder for the cable and most people put in the wrong screws--which...

I have been a cougar owner for just shy of 30 years, I have been dealing with part problems for a very long time. The people at WCCC have always be honest, and overly helpfull. I now have a 1970 XR-7 mostly rebuilt, and my son has a 1968 base...
