If you watch our booster video you will see we have a clear distaste for most of the offshore boosters offered today. What caught our attention about this new product was that it looked like a real deal 67-9 Midland brand booster! We went the next step and sent it to the world's foremost leading authority on said boosters (Booster Steve in Portland OR) so he could put it through some rigorous testing and examination. At first he was very hesitant to have us waste the postage to send it but two weeks later he called with some encouraging news! He, like us, was very impressed with the case (outer shell) and if it were not for the fact that they used metric mounting studs he would be ordering empty shells to replace heavily rusted shells sent in by his customers (hopefully we can get the manufacturer to rectify this huge oversight). The master cylinder spacer / filter retainer is spot on. The inner workings such as the internal hardware and center hub are slightly different so one cannot easily interchange the internals with OEM parts. Lastly he found that this repro is not as powerful as the original and resembles the feel of a Bendix brand booster which to some, is a plus as many feel our cars lack road sensation with their overpowered powered steering and brakes.
If you would like to purchase this new unit, there is no core charge, but if you happen to have 67-70 Midland or Bendix booster and would like to send it in, we can give up to $100 as an in store credit. Even if your booster is damaged or is missing parts, we can still give partial core credit. Sending in a core is up to you, we do not supply labels.
The Midland brand booster was used in 1967-68 (and on some early 1969 models) and has slightly better stopping capability than the 1969-70 Bendix booster. The downside is that you are fortunate to get 10 years out of the Midland brand booster as they are not as reliable of a design as the units used in 1969 - 1970. You can use a 1969 Bendix on your 1967 - 1968 as an exact fit replacement but you cannot use a 1970 on a 1967 - 1969 without changing the brake pedal as well. If you currently have manual brakes and wish to add a vacuum assist booster you must change the brake pedal as it has a different fulcrum point (mounts differently to the hanger).
This booster carries a 2-year limited warranty.
WARNINGS:
- Do not attempt to use a 1970 booster on a 1967-69 Cougar as failure will occur within minutes!
- Never bleed your brakes on a power brake car with the car running. The pedal will over extend the rod into the booster and break internal parts. This is not covered under warranty.
