    Description

This option includes paying a core charge.

By choosing this option, the rebuilt booster you receive will have started the rebuild process as an average quality core.

We highly recommend that you send us your core first. Here's why:

We can core match your booster. Boosters that are rebuilt using a superior quality core are always reserved for core matching. If your core is average or below average, you may be able to pay to upgrade to a rebuilt booster that started the rebuild process as a superior quality core.
You can find out the quality of your core before paying a core charge and avoid unnecessary core charges. Discounted core charges may apply for below average cores if sent in advance.

Quality rebuild done by the country's premier classic car booster re-builder! Note that the input shaft (rod) tips down for 1967 - 1969 and goes straight back for 1970. Using a 1970 booster on a 1967 - 1969 or a 1970 pedal on a 67-69 booster will ruin your booster. The 1969 Bendix booster is commonly used on 1967 - 1968 models and is actually a more dependable unit than the Midland brand booster used in 1967 - 68. If you have an unusually clean booster core that has minimal or no pitting on the case and it is important that you receive like quality, we suggest you send your core in advance. By doing so we can "core match" and if we do not have one in stock as clean as what came off your car we can rebuild your unit and send it back within about 2 weeks.

Helpful Tip: These boosters are set with the rod at about .950 (with 20" of vacuum) to make sure it does not pre-load the master cylinder. If the depth is .980 (as the shop manual calls out) and one sets the push rod at that when the engine starts, it could move forward a bit and pre-load the master causing the brakes to drag.

Booster comes with a 2 year limited warranty.

    WARNINGS:

Do not attempt to use a 1970 booster on a 1967-69 Cougar as failure will occur within minutes!

Never bleed your brakes on a power brake car with the car running. The pedal will over extend the rod into the booster and break internal parts. This is not covered under warranty.

NOTE! We are buyers of complete, clean core brake boosters 67-70 for the Mustang / Cougar. We generally pay up to $100 each (usually in the form of in-store credit) and we can help you out with shipping costs by selling you a return label with our discounted rate. Call us anytime at 503-463-1130 for more details.

    • Grateful for WCCC brake booster tutorial
    • Excellent rebuild
    • Well-crimped seams around diaphragm
    • Nicely painted
    • Well packaged for shipment
    Cons:
Once mated with the new master cylinder, this booster was a tight fit behind the drivers shock tower. Getting the correct one was critical and I was really grateful for the brake booster tutorial provided by WCCC. The booster I purchased was an excellent rebuild with well-crimped seams around the diaphragm. It was well nicely painted and well packaged for shipment.

    Pros:
    • Completely rebuilt
    • Well packaged
    • Great video
    Cons:
    • A bit pricey with the core and all
    • Unit was not painted
The brake booster video is excellent and pitched by a subject matter expert. Until you watch it you'll never be aware of the subtle differences between boosters. The unit arrived ahead of schedule and seems to be of good quality. The only problem I have to mention is the fact that, unlike the boosters advertised or used as examples in the video, mine was not painted. Hindsight being 20/20, it's probably for the better since you can see and appreciate that the unit has indeed been totally rebuilt and not just an "Aerosol Overhaul" product.

Problem was it was the wrong booster for my '69, I needed a Midland booster, and when I sent it back all I got was a core charge refund instead of the whole refund, not good.

    Question
    Asked:
When putting a Bendix booster in an 1967, how do you deal with the two vacuum lines that go to the brake booster on a 67 with a midland? The Bendix check valve only has one outlet.

I have not personally tried to swap one of those before, so I am not certain. The guys that would know are gone until Tuesday because of the 4th of July. I would recommend asking over at the Classic Cougar Community (https://www.classiccougarcommunity.com/forum/).

Why am I being warned about potential exposure to chemicals in motor vehicle parts?

    • Some chemicals in motor vehicle parts are on the Proposition 65 list because they can cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
    • When purchasing USED or NOS items, we do not know if listed chemicals are present in these products.
