    Description

This offshore reproduction weatherstrip is for the perimeter of the doors on the Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang. This set has the door to back of door glass seal bonded to the end of the strips and will need to be glued in place. This overseas reproduction sold by Daniel Carpenter is simply another option to the US made version, and has been known to fit better than the US made weatherstrips. If correctness is not an issue for you, you can get the Midland unit here

Sold as a pair and includes the metal fasteners.

    Replaces Ford part # C9ZZ-6520530-A.

Do you have questions about Glue-In vs Bolt-In glass? How about how to properly install Glue-In glass in your 1969 Cougar or Mustang?

    Pros:
    • Nice material
    Cons:
    • Too long

This weather strip is about 2 inches too long. That becomes a problem when putting the weather strip on because both ends are screwed into fixed locations on the door. Best start gluing from both ends and work your way towards the middle. Try to lose the slack on the bottom of the door or you may have to cut it and trim an inch off in the middle. If you work from one end to the other you will have to cut it where visible. It would be better that the weather strip be made shorter and put on tighter.

    WCCC Response:

We asked the manufacturer about this, and here was their response:

We have sold a lot of them to CJ's and NPD and no other reports of this, but I will have our staff check a pair. When rubber extrusion is new it shrinks about 5% in the first 2 months and continues to shrink slowly over time. That's why NOS weatherstrips are sometimes 4 or 5" short. We usually run at least 3-4 years supply so we usually leave them exact fit to allow for some shrinkage. One of our requirements around here is to allow new extrusion to sit for 1 month before we use it in production.
