This kit does not come with the remanufactured 1989 - 1992 Ford Probe motors. Even through the kit was developed to use 1989 - 1992 motor, you can also use the 1993 - 1997 units as well. This is an older style kit. The new kits that come with motors include brand new Mazda Miata motor. This kit however will not work with the Miata motors and must use the Ford Probe motors. This version of this kit has been discontinued by the manufacturer.
To install this kit you will need to:
- Purchase BOTH the driver side and passenger side 1989 - 1997 Ford Probe motors separately from an auto parts warehouse (Cardone Part # 49-200 & 49-201, 49-202, or 49-203) or purchase them from a wrecking yard. NOTE: we would recommend seeing if you can get the Ford Probe motors locally before purchasing this kit, as most US warehouses no longer have the Ford Probe motors in stock.
- Install the passenger side Probe motor on the driver side of your Cougar and visa versa for the other side.
- The arms will mount vertically not horizontally.
- The arms will mount to the outside of the bracket, or towards the outside of the vehicle.
This partial kit will replace the old, tired, vacuum system that likes to leak and wear out. If you have a high performance engine with low vacuum, this is a must have kit for your Cougar. Simply remove all existing vacuum components and replace with this kit to have headlight covers that work under any conditions with the car running or not. Another advantage of this electric system is that it doesn't put constant pressure on your grille like the original vacuum system does.
We'll buy your old vacuum headlight system parts! You can get up to $200 credit for them. We buy the actuators, hoses, reservoir tanks, and the '67 solenoid, whether working or not. You can save a good chunk of change on the electric conversion by selling us your old parts.
