Application is for all 1971 Cougars with 351 engines, both 2V and 4V engines. Additionally it includes 1972 351-4V without NOx. Our research shows that NOx was a California emissions requirement. Ford part number D10Z-9A626-B. *Note - 1972 49 state 351-4V air cleaner snorkel.

Air cleaner pre-heater paper hose. Should fit most applications from 1970-73 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang with V8 engines. 2 inch inside diameter, we cut these to about 9 inches long. Correct black paper outside, flexible paper tube, kind of like a Slinky. Please verify your needed length, we leave them a bit longer than needed so that they fit more than one application.

Just about the only possible reason to put this poor quality reproduction on your Cougar is that it is a good tool to put out engine fires. No Joke! If you happen to have an engine fire you can carefully open your hood, yank the blanket downward and smother the fire by pushing the blanket tight around the area that is burning. D0OE-6583-A is the part number cast on both. These both have the same opening for the oil filler cap on both sides. Technically, for 1971, the passenger side cover would have a round hole for the PCV grommet and have a D1OE-6583-CA casting number.
