    Description

This unit mounts on the main air chamber, it opens and closes the air vent. Made of nylon with a brass plunger. This unit is easy to test and can be seen by removing the glove box. Often it is the internal spring that fails on these and if your Cougar or Mustang will not easily change between blowing through the defrost ducts and the floor duct, this unit may be the culprit. Switch assembly, servo control.

    Replaces Ford part # C6OZ-18C311-A.

*NOTE* You will need to retain your mounting bracket from your old unit.

    Pros:
    • works as intended
    Cons:
    • color is not the same as the website pic
the picture shown on the website is very similar to an original with the main bracket being zinc dichromate and the fastener being black oxide. The actual repro part is all clear zinc. The website also states "Made of nylon with a steel and brass plunger just like original." which is not accurate

Nice little "insurance" item to replace while in there to replace a heater core. Except for the unfaded plastic housing, you couldn't tell this from OEM.

How do you test it to see if it is operating correctly?

    Answer
    WCCC Admin Answered:

If your heater will not change between blowing air on the floor and defroster, this is likely the culprit. For more details about how to test for certain, we would recommend visiting the ClassicCougarCommunity.com forum.

Why am I being warned about potential exposure to chemicals in motor vehicle parts?

    • Some chemicals in motor vehicle parts are on the Proposition 65 list because they can cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
    • When purchasing USED or NOS items, we do not know if listed chemicals are present in these products.
    • This product is known to contain the following listed chemicals:

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
