Used air cleaner base plug, plugs the area pre cut from the factory. Typically found on 70 - 73 Cougar and Mustang.

Original retainer that clips onto the breather element nipple sticking through the air cleaner base and holds the elbow for the hose going to the PCV valve.  Ford calls this part the Crankcase Emissions Filter Retainer.The Master Parts Catalog says this part is only for 1971 and newer cars, but this part has been found on low mile 1970 cars as well. Nice pliable original seal that measures 3 5/8" tall, no burns, rips or cuts. Will trade straight across for 68-70 428 Cougar ram air seal which is only 2 1/4" in height. This is the correct base for a 1972 Mercury Cougar with a Q code 351-4V Cleveland engine. Used air cleaner lid for all 1973 H code 351-2V engines. About 14.75 inches in diameter. Ford part number for the air cleaner assembly is D3ZZ-9600-A. The air cleaner lid by itself doesn't have a number. lid will be in comparable condition to picture shown.

Chrome air cleaner lid removed from a Q code, 351-4V or 351CJ 1972 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang, likely Torino and Mercury mid sized cars too. Ford / Mercury have had various part numbers listed for this basic lid over the years. The primary difference was the original lids included an engine size sticker. That is why there are so many listings, the basic part number is 9661. Chrome will be used, and will have some defects to the plating.

This lid is about 16-3/4 inch in diameter. Identified by the spokes in the stamping. 1967 and 1969 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang with S code 390-4V engines. Rechromed GT air cleaner lid for the Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang equipped with either the Boss 302, GT 390, or 428 CJ engine without the shaker option. This is a 1969 lid. The 1968 lid had several differences, most notable was the stamping wrinkles. This vacuum actuated door assembly was used on several performance motors without Ram Air. When extra air was needed under heavy acceleration the vacuum actuator opened the door on the side of the air cleaner base. The actuator on this unit needs to be rebuilt so this is considered a good core only.
