Reproduction passenger side (right hand) manually adjusted sport mirror for the Mercury Cougar or 1970-1971 Ford Torino / Cobra / Ranchero / Cyclone. Our kit includes everything needed to mount a bullet style sport mirror to the passenger side of your vehicle. This reproduction unit is far more durable than the originals which were cast with a softer metal. The Ford service replacement part number for the original complete assembly was D0OZ-17682-D. The base in this assembly would have also had a casting number that read D0OB-17713-AW. This mirror was an over the counter offering that could be had at your local Ford dealer to be placed on any 1969-70 Cougar. However, only the 1970 Eliminator came from the factory with it. Unlike the driver side door, there is no factory embossed area on the passenger side door for this mirror. It mounts between the first and second body line, as opposed to on the top edge of the door like on the driver side. When mounting, test fit by having someone stand in front of the car while the second person moves the mirror to the correct height and angle.
If you have a 1971-73 Cougar, the original Ford casting number, as seen on the bottom side, is D1OB-17713-AWA. Many people misinterpret it as D10B-17713-AWA, DI0B-17713-AW or Dl0B-17713-AWA. The 1971-73 base is actually about 1/16" taller, but you will be hard pressed to visually see the difference between a 70 and 71-3. Even when they are placed side by side.
Replaces Ford part # D0OZ-17682-D.
*TRIVIA* Mercury used a passenger side Ford Torino mirror for the passenger side of the XR7, Sports Special, and Eliminator for the 1970 model run.
