    Description

This reproduction emergency / parking brake handle is an exact reproduction that is made from quality materials and is less prone to cracking than your original. That being said, these still will crack if you pull hard and do not have your hand close to the shaft.  This was a design flaw from day one.  The correct way to apply the brake to reduce the chances of these handles cracking is to split your fingers around the shaft when applying the brake, keeping your fingers close to the shaft.

To remove your old handle, break the plastic off of the shaft to reveal the splined pin. Pull out pin with vise grips and install the new unit.

    • Breaks easily

Handle is not strong plastic. Snaps in two at junction when pulled hard. Metal in handle should be manufactured to continue around bend in handle. Cheap reproduction part.

    WCCC Response:

Just like the originals and the NOS we sell; these do crack easily. What you must do is grab them close to the base, not on the outer portion which is intuitively what one would do. This was in fact an original factory design defect.

Like others have said, it is a perfect fit. The old one was a bear to get off. The pin would not come out. Had to devise a press out of large plier, a punch and a clamp to press the pin out after I had cut away the plastic and the metal inside the plastic with a cutting wheel. The pin hole on the one I received was on the inside where you go to grab the handle, so I had to press that pin all the way in so it would catch my hand . When I installed the new one, I tapped it on, but the pin hole did not line up when bottomed out. I took a punch, put it in the handle hole while tapping the handle to find where the hole in the bar was. Worked perfectly.

Very nice part, fit snug on the shaft and appearance is great. The only issue I had was the retaining pin was about a half a hole diameter too far up the handle. I tapped (pounded) the handle on with a soft hammer until it bottomed out and the locking pin wouldn't go in. I reamed the hole toward the rod entry just enough to get the pin in. This works, but the pin is more loose now than it should be.

Note: my car was restored about 12+ years ago and I'm not certain the brake rod is original. I would be interested if other buyers didn't have this issue.
