***WARNING***
Plugging these directly into a Cougar wiring harness without correctly re-wiring in the pigtails may fry your wiring harness!
Reproduction driver side (left hand) and passenger side (right hand) front turn signal / parking light assemblies for the Ford Mustang. The plug is not correct for the Mercury Cougar's wiring harness and will need to be changed to work properly. However, this is an easy straightforward process which we lay out below. Plus you can save a good amount of that hard earned cash by converting these units yourself.
This kit comes with amber lenses and clear bulbs which are not correct for the Cougar. In order to be correct, you will need the clear lenses with amber bulbs.
Not into converting these yourself? You can get our plug and play assemblies:1967 or 1968 assembly.
**Conversion Tips**
To re-wire the plug to work with your Cougar, you can use an original plug, the reproduction plug, or just swap the wires on the plugs that comes with the lights.
Below are pictures of doing this using an original Cougar Plug. (Click images to enlarge)
We like to make our splice near the housing because it gives the splice a nice clean look that is less noticeable. However, you can make your splice anywhere you feel works best for your car. After you make your cuts, strip about 1/4" of the ends for your connections.
You will be color matching the wires together. Brown to brown, black to black and blue to blue. There are many different ways to splice wires together and we've seen'em all. We prefer to use a soldered butt connection. This ensures that the connections last for the entire life of the vehicle without complete or intermittent failure. We have also found that shrink wrap seems to be the best and cleanest way to wrap and protect the splice. If you are going to use shrink wrap, make sure that it is in place before you make your connections. Here at WCCC, we shrink wrap the individual connections and then use a larger diameter shrink wrap to cover the entire splice.
