This option requires that you send your core in advance. Your core gets rebuilt and returned. If you don't have a core, WCCC has come across a few from our wrecking yard, give us a call to discuss details.
Our service is to rebuild your standard fuel sending unit. A quality core is required. Yes, we can rebuild other than 1967-73 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang sending units. 1967-1980 Ford sending units accepted. See our related listing for low fuel sending unit rebuilding.
A quality core must be complete and not overly corroded. We are unable to convert from non-low fuel to low fuel. We also cannot change plugs for different years. We do not repair rust or rust through holes. We do not have critical or specific spare parts for rebuilding. Please understand that some units may be too far gone to rebuild. You will be contacted, there is a minimum charge for initial analysis if the unit is deemed too poor to repair.
If you do not have a solid, complete original core to exchange please contact us as we often have several on hand already rebuilt. Sometimes we can allow you to exchange at no extra cost a year different from the one you desire.
Rebuilding of the Fuel Sending Unit - they are meticulously gone through and made operational again. All sending units are taken apart and media blasted. All wire leads are tested for ohm resistance, then re-soldered to their contact points if needed. Upon reassembly, initial testing is done with VOM.
Calibration is not done by bending the arm! Calibration is done internally, so each time an adjustment is made, the housing is reopened.
When all this is done, a reading is taken for empty, half, and full tank. It's important to note that these were never high precision instruments. Once testing is complete, the housing is closed and in some cases soldered.
Returned with a new 5/16 or 3/8 inch filter, brass float, and sending unit gasket.
*Note - Service only for the non-low fuel sending units, standard fuel sending units do not have a thermistor. They generally have a single wire for connection.
