    Description

This is the single prong version fuel sending unit for 67 - 68 Cougars and Mustangs. Cougars equipped with the convenience control package, and the XR7's used a three prong version. The function however is not as good as original but adequate and usually will work for years. If you have an original, often times it's just the float that needs replacing, so don't be quick to discard your original.

*Note - This reproduction sending unit is technically a copy of the 1968 version. Be aware that the OEM Ford 1967 sending units had 5/16 inch tubes for the filter, this one is 3/8 inches.

I changed mine because I already had the fuel tank out. I would have to say that this is not made as sturdy as the original.

No problems with install and it works. reads lower than what's in tank but can always adjust arm. Better than making me think I have more than I really do.

    Question
    Asked:
Ive heard rumours that there are 2 resistance ranges for the 67 cougar depending on when the car was manufactured. I has ordered one from a different supplier many years ago that have since gone out of business and I'm pretty sure I have the wrong one. When the tank is full the gauge definitely reads full but when it is about 1/2 tank the gauge reads as empty. Do you know if there are 2 different versions of the sending unit or is there possibly something wrong with my sender.

    Answer
    WCCC Admin Answered:
There are at least 2 different manufacturers of these and one of the manufacturers offers it with a brass or plastic float. These ones recently had some improvements to make them read better. They are still not as good as the originals for accurate readings, but they are the best that is available.

Why am I being warned about potential exposure to chemicals in motor vehicle parts?

    • Some chemicals in motor vehicle parts are on the Proposition 65 list because they can cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
    • When purchasing USED or NOS items, we do not know if listed chemicals are present in these products.
    • This product is known to contain the following listed chemicals:

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
