USPS Delivery Delays: We are receiving a significant number of email/calls from customers regarding their USPS shipments. USPS is experiencing significant delivery delays and shipment misdirection. For example, tracking has shown multiple packages shipping from Oregon to California going through Atlanta Georgia. These are issues in the Post Office system, and not anything we can fix.

    Please Note:

Many used items in our pictures have been cleaned and/or bead blasted prior to being photographed to show condition and detail.

The item you receive, in most circumstances, will be pulled from the donor car and shipped to you without being cleaned.

We do not retake pictures each time a used item sells. Pictures are a good indicator of what you will receive, but not all used parts age the same. On high dollar parts, email us and we can send a few pictures of the actual part available.

    "Core" Items:
If we use the word "Core" in the title of the product, the item has been deemed rebuildable, but has not been rebuilt.  The item you receive, in most circumstances, will be pulled from the donor car and shipped to you without being cleaned.

This is the manual steering gear box for 1972 1973 Mercury Cougars. Marked SMA-T and is 24:1 ratio. It is pretty rare to find a Cougar optioned without power steering. According to Kevin Marti's COUGAR...by the Numbers book 99% of all 1971 - 1973 Cougars came with power steering from the factory. If you have a non-power steering Cougar for these years you are in the 1% club. The current used steering box has a date of 1H06B, August 6, 1971. For an early 1972 Cougar or Mustang. Used steering box, turns smoothly. Price does not include a $90 core charge.

For some reason, the 1971 manual steering boxes had a ratio of 22:1, and were tagged SMA-R.

We offer used boxes because in our experiences this box design is very durable and not as prone to wear like the early (1967 - 1970) style steering boxes.
