    Description

This kit is what we recommend to fully convert your 1968 Cougar over to LED Plasma exterior lights. Our WCCC brand LED lights are amongst the brightest on the market and have been specifically engineered with the nuances of the Mercury Cougar sequential system in mind. Keep in mind that over the years folks have become accustomed to very BRIGHT tail lights in traffic and the old incandescent bulbs are not only dim, but they take time to fully illuminate and a split second can make all the difference in stop and go traffic. Another reason to upgrade this system is that the reproduction turn signal switches are not as good as the originals and do not do well with the load of six incandescent bulbs. Even the original FoMoCo switches often failed prematurely in the Cougars. By reducing the load on the circuit to a fraction of factory specs, you will save yourself lots of time and money in repairs. Lastly... Cougar owners have always been rather proud of our unique sequential systems and by installing this system you will be pleasantly surprised at not only how intensely bright they are but how they illuminate a brilliant, true red that evenly radiates throughout the taillight cavity. The 1968 model year does not require you to upgrade the unit in the trunk but if you still have the old mechanical system, now would be the perfect time to upgrade (optional addon above)!

I purchased this with the solid state sequencer (my old one failed) and the change is amazing! Lights are brighter, they come on without delay.. literally everything you’d want in this type of upgrade. I totally recommend both!

    Pros:
    • Upgrde lighting purchase well worth it.
    Cons:
Wow ,This is a great purchase, I purchased the new plasma bulb upgrade kit and its amazing. My old bulbs you could hardly see in the day time ,and now you can see the bright red bulbs so much better. Watch Dons video on You Tube to see the difference in the before and after lighting. The kit also comes with the back up bulbs and front Amber blinker bulbs as well as the new blinker relay switch. I highly recommend this upgrade, which makes a world of difference. I live in New York and I am not affiliated with West Coast Classic Cougar. I'm giving you an honest opinion of my Purchase

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...

I have been a cougar owner for just shy of 30 years, I have been dealing with part problems for a very long time. The people at WCCC have always be honest, and overly helpfull. I now have a 1970 XR-7 mostly rebuilt, and my son has a 1968 base...
