Reproduction 1967 GT concours correct air cleaner assembly with the chrome lid for the Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang equipped with the 390 engine. Notice that this version does not have the metal elbow on the side for the hose going to the oil fill cap? This is an extremely hard piece to find used and even rarer in NOS form. Now we can offer you this new unit that is made from the original tooling! This reproduction includes a blue base, a chrome lid, and a lid to base rubber gasket. Some early production 1968 390 GT's may
have come factory with this air cleaner.
It was possible
to order a 390 GT motor for your Cougar without ordering the 390 GT
package. Cougars equipped with the 390 6.5 Litre engine that did not
come with the GT package would have used the air cleaner with a long
tapered snorkel and painted lid. Cougars sold in California had a 90
degree elbow on the air cleaner base for the closed emissions system. Click
here for the California emission tube version of this unit.
Replaces Ford part # C7ZZ-9600-F.
*NOTE* Canada did not require emissions in 1968, and Ford generally installed the open emissions style 1967 air cleaners. The outside dimension of the lid is 16.75" and
will not fit the more common 17" versions.
