Product Condition Grades
Below is a general description of what the criteria is for our product condition grades. These are generalizations that are intended to give you an idea of the condition of the product at a quick glance. Because different parts degrade at different rates, there are variances in what the letters represent, please see the products description for details about the condition of any particular product.
A = Excellent / Above Average
B = Average / Some flaws / Good to Excellent Driver Quality
C = Obvious flaws / Poor to Average Driver Quality
D, E, F = Worse, Worser, Worsest
This was the inner air cleaner lid used on the Mercury Cougars equipped with a 428 Ram Air Cleaner or 429 Cobra Jet Ram Air Cleaner assembly. Although you will often find chrome under the blue engine paint on these lids they are in fact supposed to be painted from the factory. This lid is 14-1/8 inches in diameter. The reason you will often see chrome underneath the paint is that this is the same lid used on the 1967 427 GTE, 289 HiPo equipped early Mustangs and 390 GT / GTA Fairlanes and other performance Fords of the day that utilized an open element air cleaner. It is assumed that chrome lids were sometimes painted blue and used on the Ram Air Cougars for supply reasons.
