The lighter it self is great, the housing would not unscrew from the outer housing, be aware as to how you unscrew this if you require the back connector as I ended up twisting this off trying to unscrew, don't try to use pliers on front bezel as you will mare it. Your original outer houing will not fit on the new onewill.

When I re- built my 67 the lighter was missing. I put a cheap repo in because I don't smoke and neither was anyone else ... in the car. The cheapie rattled and fell out. The USB plugs would not stay in the socket ... poor fit.
The problem is now history. Wish I had done this the first time

    gonna look great

    Cons:
my 1968 cougar was an abandoned "light" restoration. the cigarette lighter was one of the problem areas (although mostly "esthetic"): the socket (and some bracket?) was missing, the lighter (lighter element) was in a very bad shape (badly rusted).

first i thought that a quick fix can be done, by saving the lighter element, and replacing the socket with a "modern", generic, simple lighter. but in the end, this approach was not viable (the lighter element was beyond repair) and the result was a low-profile look of a modern, generic, plastic cigarette lighter.

so i decided to replace that altogether with this complete lighter / socket assembly. nice details, good material and finish. fits well into the dash cigarette lighter compartment.
