Description

For factory installed A/C on Mercury Cougars and Ford Mustangs. This unit functions great, but when compared to the NOS unit, you will see that it is cosmetically a little bit different. This uses the "O" ring style seals which are not included.

Will work with both R12 and R134 systems.

Connections to AC hoses and evaporator do not work.

This expansion valve did not work in my system. I believe that there is a manufacturing defect because the pockets cut into the male fittings for the O rings are too deep. The O ring lays in the pocket too far and the female fittings do not compress the O ring when tightened. Instead the metal lip on the hoses and evaporator butt up against the threaded ends of the expansion valve and rely on metal to metal contact to make the seal. This did not work for me and my system would not hold vacuum. I putt in the new valve because I was redoing my system but reinstalled the old one which probably still works. It did hold vacuum.
