    Description

Non functional scoop originally used on the 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7-G but will work on any 67 - 68 Mercury Cougar. This scoop measures 25 3/8" at its widest point, 26 1/2" at its longest point and is 2" high. The original blue prints show the center of the rear stud as being 2 1/8 inches forward of the back edge of the hood. Measuring the distance on original XR7-G and GT-E's most measure about 1 1/2" from the rear edge of the hood to the rear edge of the scoop at centerline. This differs from the GT-E in that the faux dual snorkel openings have horizontal ribs and the GT-E is flush. 6 studs attach scoop to hood, correct style nuts with spinning washers available here.

    Replaces part # C8WY-16C630-C.

Overall fit & finish were great, 2 mounting studs were not straight so it required slightly larger holes to line up but sits flush to hood with no gaps and looks great.

needs some work to get it to lay flat. Had to do much sanding at studs and make holes larger due to resin buildup at the bolts. It could be my hood was bondo'd and that's why she does not seam flat at the edges.

I ordered one of these good scoops for my father's car. I was impressed with the price and how fast I received it at my door considering I'm in canada. When I opened the box I noticed a few deep gouges (1/4") in the fibreglass and also that when we fitted it onto the hood to measure and paint, it was not level. The scoop actually was tller on one side the the other and was very noticeable even just sitting on the good itself. Took more time then I thought we would need considering we had to fill in the gouges and reseand the scoop down even more to make it level across the hood. Wouldn't order another one with the hassle I had with this one.

    Question
    Robert Gray Asked:
What is the inside clearance from the hood surface to the underside of the scoop?

    Answer
    Joshua (WCCC) Answered:
Because of the contour of the scoop, the distance between the hood and the scoop is not uniform. At the highest point there is about 1 5/8" of clearance.
