    This particular mid-plate has a seemingly factory installed tab welded to the backside.  This unit was not found on a 1968 Mercury Cougar but does have the wrinkles indicative of a 68 lid.  The tab located at 12 o'clock makes it rather difficult to install the Air Cleaner to hood seal. If anyone can clue us in to the exact application of this oddball part please chime in!
